Use of Omeprazole in pregnancy
Studies are not conclusive about consistent use of Omeprazole during pregnancy and which kind of harm could cause to the fetuses/babies. Several studies have reported no apparent short-term effects on an infant when mother got exposed to a single dose of Omeprazole during pregnancy.
In the absence of more results, it is not advisable to recommend consistent use of Omeprazole during pregnancy.
Can I take omeprazole when breastfeeding?
Use of Omeprazole during lactation varies. Omeprazole could be present in human milk. There is no information on the effects of omeprazole on the breastfed infant or effect on milk production. If a breastfeeding mother needs Omeprazole, a prescriber must assess the case.
